Older People Can Also Eat As Young!

The problem of decreased appetite and loss of interest in eating during old age is the thing of the past now. Harvard Medical School has devised a plan which will help older people eat nutritious food and take in the required amount of calories. //

Doctors at the institute advise that High fibre in the form of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and bran cereals can help fight diabetes, heart disease and diverticulosis. Folic acid (400 micrograms a day) and vitamin B6 (1.7 milligrams a day) will help lower levels of homocysteine, a known factor in heart disease and stroke. Keeping these principles in mind will help you maintain good health through nutrition in later years.

This plan developed at the institute solves many problems associated with old age health. It is a task to persuade old people to eat well. As one gets older, it’s as if the body senses the need for fewer calories and many people lose interest in food. Added to decreased appetite, being alone during mealtimes (for someone who is widowed) and impaired mobility may make shopping and cooking too much of a bother.

But following the above plan will help solve these problems and aid in proper nutrition and health of older people.
