Obesity in Kids Increases the Risk of Early Onset of Type-2 Diabetes

There is an alarming rise in obesity among city kids in Britain, increasing their susceptibility to diabetes. //

According to researchers, only 37% of the urban kids really walk to school as compared to 67% of the children in the suburban areas. Nearly 47% of the kids spend almost 4 hrs sedentarily, watching television or playing at the computer. This is leading to the early onset of Type 2 diabetes, which was common only in the above 40 age group.

In Britain, more than 1,000 child cases have been diagnosed, which could cause early death from the condition. Dr Kamlesh Khunti, of Leicester University, said: "Children in urban areas are not doing enough exercise. It needs to be addressed."
