Now insulin can be inhaled,,,, ,,

In a breakthrough that would alter the lives of millions, scientists at the University of Scarthclyde and Glasgow have developed and patented a simple method of administering protein based drugs such as insulin using inhalers.

The manufacture of tiny protein coated micro crystals can pass through the lung wall and into the blood stream using dry powder inhalers similar to those used by asthma sufferers.//

The scientists unveiled these findings at the Edinburgh international science festival last week. These researchers have been working on this project for the past two years.

This way, a wide range of diseases can be treated and daily administration of injections can be stopped. Diabetes apart, other diseases that can be treated using the same method are cystic fibrosis, osteoporosis, emphysema and multiple sclerosis.
