Nitazoxanide, potent drug to plug the purge caused by rotavirus

Nitazoxanide holds immense promise for kids infected with Rotavirus that triggers severe diarrhea, now infamous for causing half a million deaths// amongst youngsters from the deprived countries. Now, this drug has also received the approval from the FDA for its use in combating gastrointestinal infections in children.

A team of Researchers at the Romark Institute for Medical Research in Tampa, Florida, compared the efficacy of nitazoxanide administered twice a day for three days vis a vis a placebo amongst 50 children who were suffering severe diarrhea. The study revealed that nitazoxanide was capable of remedying the illness in about 30 hours with negligible side effects.
