New Zealand Requests Details from Britain about ‘Black Sheep

Close on the heels of a communiqué from Britain about a novel type of brain disease in a sheep of New Zealand descent on Britain’s research farm, New Zealand authorities// have requested exact details of the disease from British scientists. Britain's Veterinary Laboratories Agency has detected the disease, which is technically called ‘scrapie’ that belongs to a family of diseases akin to mad cow disease.

Barry O'Neill, the man at the helm of biosceurity in New Zealand, confirmed that there have been no incidences of scrapie in the country, yet the agency will do all it can to trace the pedigree of the afflicted ewe.
