New Method To Identify Protein Hot spots

Though Proteins are stable there are certain conditions under which they loose their stability and aggregates with the unbounded proteins leading to protein aggregation called as Amyloid Fibers// which is though to be responsible for causing neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer and Parkinson Diseases. The Research team from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, led by the researcher Salvador Ventura, has developed a method that identifies specific hot spots in the proteins which are responsible for aggregation and bonding for the formation Amyloid Fibers. The researchers feel that this method of early identification of protein aggregation may help in developing drug targets for treatment of these diseases.

The method of identifying hot spots in unfolded proteins will be helpful to design drugs, which could cover the unfolded part of the protein and does not allow protein aggregation. The drug target can also be designed to protect and stabilize the hot spots in folded globular proteins, which are mostly protected by their folding in their outer surface, but are mostly liable to accidental breaks.
