Nestlé clinches an esteemed brain research pac

Nestlé has decided to pump in funds to the tune of SFr25 million ($20 million) in a shared project with the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne to invest in the creation // of new products that could enhance the power of the brain.

The joint venture, envisaged for five years will seek to enhance brain power in children. Also research to lessen the impact of brain degenerative disorders or completely offset them with nutrients will form the core of this study. Mainly, study will focus on finding the vital nutrients required by the brain to maintain a high order of efficiency.

Peter van Bladeren, director of the Nestlé Research Center near Lausanne said, ”It is well known that during ageing and after the onset of Alzheimer's disease, the metabolism producing brain energy slows down, which has a direct impact on cognitive function. This means that by adding energy to the brain, the elderly and people suffering from Alzheimer's can better deal with the decrease of cognitive performance."

Recent studies corroborate the deleterious effects of poor diet on brain function. This could be offset, if we clearly know what foods will benefit the brain.
