NABH Health accreditations final draft to be released by this month

Indian Hospitals would have to apply for Health care accreditation standards that will make them compile to Quality standards and strict hygienic conditions. Healthcare accreditation has become important// due to increased number of hospitals and physicians providing health care which may lead to sub-standard treatment to patients, an accreditation system will help to monitor the quality of hospitals and treatment given to patients.

Uniform accreditation system for health care industries consists of a National Accreditation Board of Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), which is responsible for drafting the rules and standards to be maintained by the health care institutes. Accreditation applications should be submitted for NABH for approval.

The NABH directs the committee members, which consist of five doctors and one ISO expert with the help of the Quality Council of India (QCI) surveys the hospital so that the hospital strictly compiles to the standards of the draft. The survey committee after checking out all the 100 standards, which has to be maintained by the hospital, gives a final score to the NABH committee with its recommendations it also gives a report on what are the things lagging or pitfalls in the hospital, which has to be rectified. NABH takes the final decision of giving accreditation and if required the committee may ask the hospital to rectify its problems and resubmit the proposal for accreditation.

Accreditation standards for Indian hospitals would be formed according to Indian standards and would be country specific and would strictly stick to our countries cultural and economic status and there would be no foreign agency involved in the committee deciding over the rules of the draft, which would ensure that all people have access to hospitals, patients would be made aware of the treatment options available in the hospital and which type of treatment suits their case of disease this will educate the patients
