Mumbai Hospital gets Sports Therapy Rehabilitation System

A modern therapy rehabilitation system that can perform a variety of tests on sportspersons was inaugurated by former India cricket captain Dilip Vengsarkar here Tuesday//.

PrimusRS, installed at Saifee Hospital, enables physiotherapists to accurately measure the performance, recovery, and fitness-levels of sportspersons.

"The heavy emphasis on Indian participation in the international sporting arena has sports trainers and coaches driving athletes and sportspeople to peak performances," said Ashish Thakur of the MedTech company that installed the system.

"However, more needs to be done to ensure success. The training and injuries of sports stars bring to light an imperative need for the very latest in sports rehabilitation and fitness testing."

PrimusRS is currently being used by the Beijing Research Institute of Sports Science to train their athletes for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The Indian team's former physiotherapists Ali Irani and Andrew Leipus were also present on the occasion.
