'Miracle Boy' Prince Declared Fit by Medical Team

Doctors attending to the rescued five-year-old boy Prince, who was trapped inside a 60-feet deep tube well pit, Sunday declared that the child was safe and did not// suffer// any major physical or mental harm.

The rescued boy was being brought to state capital Chandigarh to keep him under observation at the super-specialty Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here.

Prince was rescued at Haldaheri village near Shahbad town of the historic Hindu pilgrim district Kurukshetra Sunday by a joint operation of the army, local villagers and civil authorities.

Doctors, who had been camping at the village since Saturday afternoon, attended to Prince immediately after he was brought out from a parallel well tunnel at 7.46 p.m. by an army captain.

The doctors, including paediatrician, anaesthetist, child psychologist and other specialists, attended to him in the village and then took him to the primary health centre at nearby Shahbad town. He was later taken to the Kurukshetra civil hospital for further check-ups.

His parents, Ram Chander and Karamjit, were with him while doctors attended to him.

"It's a miracle that the boy did not have any major injury despite falling nearly 55 feet. He also survived the 50-hour ordeal in the dark pit deep inside the earth. His survival instinct saved him," said one of the doctors.
