Men More Bothered By Flu

Nuts magazine conducted a survey on “Man Flu”. "Man flu," is that mysterious phenomenon in which men become helpless by the same viruses //which barely seem to affect their female counterparts, " according to Nuts, a U.K. men's magazine.

Nuts magazine discovered that 64 per cent of men had Flu, that forced them to stay at home and miss work last winter, while only 45 per cent of women said the same. The survey also revealed that men fuss a lot more and take twice as long as women to get over the flu. It was found that on an average the men show a three-day recovery period whereas the women need only two. They also spend more, each winter on medications, than women.

The Nuts survey revealed that men generally believe that bed rest is the best treatment for the flu, while women said the best way to deal with it was to keep active and fight it off.

All of them believed that chicken soup was the best home remedy.

According to Prof Ron Eccles of the Common Cold Centre, Cardiff University, it is the ladies who fall sick more. He is quoted in the Mirror as saying: "This is because women have more contact with children - normally the main source of infection." November is the worst month for "man flu" because one in six get it then.
