Students of B J Medical College today organised a public gathering here under the banner of 'Youth For Equality' to protest against the tabling of the reservation bill in the monsoon session of Parliament beginning tomorrow.//

The protest was part of a nationwide programme, Youth For Equality said in a release adding that protest gatherings were held in 18 states.

"The message we want to send to the government is that till the Supreme Court gives its verdict on the reservation issue, the government should not table the reservation bill," Youth for Equality said.

"If they still decide to bring in the bill without keeping in perspective the view point of a section of the society there would be wide spread protests against the rigid and inexorable stand of the government," YFE said.

For the past one-and-a-half-month all the state chapters of Youth for Equality held meetings, in which "shortcomings of the Phase I of the agitation against proposed reservation in institutes of higher learning were recognised and a plan for the Phase II of the agitation was chalked out", the outfit also said.
