A new tell-on on Clark Gable insists that the actor would never have slept with Marilyn Monroe, for she was just too unhygienic for him .

It was rumoured that the two had a torrid sex romp on the set of "The Misfits", shortly after filming which Gable died of a heart attack.

However, author David Bret in his biography on the actor titled "Clark Gable: Tormented Star" insists that the rumour was just not true.

Bret writes that the reason why Gable was not 'amorously interested' in the sex symbol was because not only did he have a 'fetish for cleanliness', but she was well known to not care about personal hygiene.

"(He) not in the least amorously interested in Marilyn. In as much as he had a fetish for cleanliness, she could not have been less fastidious regarding personal hygiene," the New York Post quotes Bret, as writing.

"Like Jean Harlow, she bleached her pubic hair and never wore panties . . . She suffered from what today would be described as a form of irritable bowel syndrome," he adds.

To add to all this was the fact that Marilyn "rarely bathed, slept in the nude and ate a lot in bed - shoving what was left on her plate under the sheets before going to sleep."

Bret's biography of Gable hits bookstores this September.
