Male Students Entry in Women's College Creates Furore in Pakistan Assembly

Pakistan's women-only Fatima Jinnah University in Rawalpindi is embroiled in a controversy over the enrolment of male students. //

Opposition members in the National Assembly protested allowing male students into the university, named after the sister of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

The university's vice chancellor, Najma, told the Daily Times that a portion of the campus had been allotted to Muzaffarabad University, which had enrolled male students for its Ph.D. courses.

She also confirmed that four male students were enrolled for last year's Ph.D. programme and separate classes had been arranged for them. She clarified that giving a portion of the prestigious university to Muzaffarabad University did not make it a co-education campus.

The government has insisted that the character of the university would not be changed and offered to conduct an inquiry.
