Malaysian health minister asks to cut down the intake of sugar

According to the Malaysian Health Minister Chua Soi Lek the people consume increased quantity of sugar than necessary. Hence he requested the people to cut down// their sugar intake to move towards a healthy lifestyle. According to the statistics Malaysians on an average consume about 125 mg of sugar everyday.

This is extremely high as the health officials say that the body requires just about 50gm of sugar on an average daily. The Health Minister Chua said that one has to consume less sugar, salt and fat but large amounts of vegetables and fruits in order to life a healthy life. He said this at a press conference when he was invited to open a health seminar. This problem has already reached the cabinet and it decided that the consumption of sugar should be gradually reduced for the welfare of the people.
