Low Energy Plasma Treatment Better in Reducing Wrinkles

A new study finds that faster recovery may be possible with many low energy treatments than with one high-energy treatment for reduction of wrinkles. //

The results of this study were published in the "Archives of Dermatology." The study was conducted on eight participants over a three-month period during which they underwent low-energy plasma skin regenerations.

Plasma skin regeneration treatments are done to reduce wrinkles and for superficial lesions of the skin.

Researcher Melissa A. Bogle, MD and colleagues wrote, "The healing time in our study averaged approximately five days per treatment; however, this was a patient-assessed number that included days it took for any residual redness and peeling to completely resolve.”

"While nearly a week of healing time may not seem to be an improvement over other minimally invasive resurfacing procedures and micropeels, the intensity of the healing process is quite minor, which makes it an attractive option for many patients," they said.
