Laura Bush Makes Light of Cancer News

Having a chat during "Face the Nation", a CBS News' program, on Sunday, U.S. first lady Laura Bush,// did not make much about her recovery from skin cancer or the media’s unawareness about it. She said she was feeling fine after the squamous cell carcinoma, a cancerous growth was surgically removed from her skin.

The first lady said, "It just didn't occur to me. Also, of course, I am a private citizen. I mean, I have to say that as well. I don't release the results of my regular physicals like the president does, of course."

Confessing that it had been a trying period for herself, President Bush and all of United States, she said, "And I think this year, especially, watching the violence in Iraq is difficult for Americans and difficult for people around the world to watch. And certainly our worry -- all of us, not just the president's and mine but everybody's -- about our troops who are deployed made this year difficult."
