The nurses in Canada are raising a hue and cry over inadequate facilities in emergency rooms. According to them the ER at provincial hospitals// are ill-equipped and many a times patients have to be treated in the galleries.

At a meeting of the PHSA in Vancouver the B.C. Nurses' Union president Deb McPherson said that the status quo is unacceptable. According to her a significant number of patients have no privacy and no direct access to a washroom, or a bell to call a nurse.

On the flip side Health Minister George Abbott denied the charges and stated that there's no crisis in the emergency rooms. Still he conceded to occasional crowding.
