The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, the Bombay Hospital and three other firms are planning to set up hospitals in Rajasthan, officials said. //

The Jaipur Development Authority would allot land for the five proposals, the officials added. The Ambani group, which has proposed a Rs.2 billion Medi-City to be built here in three years, will get the land in two weeks, they added.

The state plans to be strict with the investors and would take back the sanctioned land along with partial constructions if project deadlines were unmet, they said.

The proposed Rs.2 billion Medi-City entails a 800 to 1,000-bed super-specialty hospital, a paramedical training center, an ayurvedic centre and other exclusive medical facilities.

The Bombay Hospital proposes to come up with a 650-bed, multi-speciality hospital at Rs.1.5 billion, while the Kedawat Hospital plans a 100-bed multi-specialty hospital at Rs.270 million here.

The state's announcement of an investor-friendly medical policy in July may explain the investment proposals. The policy, with its tax-concession measures, was framed to promote investment in the state's medical sector. As per the policy, to get concessions and rebates, medical institutions would have to invest at least Rs.50 million. New investors would also have to abide by environment rules for disposing of hospital waste.
