JIPMER Strike Enters Eighth Day

The strike by JIPMER employees continues into the eighth day today, but outpatients did receive some medical care as 120 nurses turned up for duty. The employees are protesting// against the decision of the Union Government to make JIPMER an autonomous institute.

The striking employees said that the Cabinet must withdraw its decision. JIPMER today held an interview to appoint temporary paramedical staff to tide over the crisis. JIPMER Director K S V K Subba Rao told reporters that work was affected because of the strike even though they were trying to restore normalcy.
