Is Stem Cell Research Likely to Be Stymied?

London: British scientists have issued a warning about an imminent government directive that seeks to ban stem cell research that utilizes animal eggs//. This move is feared to choke on going research into possible treatment for degenerative diseases.

The Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority in Britain will decide in the coming week about licenses for such procedures. This is amid numerous applications from stem cell experts for licenses to allow the creation of human stem cells from animal cells. This is especially helpful in comprehending how degenerative diseases take shape at the cellular level.

Dr. Lyle Armstrong, a stem cell expert at Newcastle University said, "It would be sad if the government chose to restrict this work. It’s very important not only to Britain, but to humanity in general."
