The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is reconsidering and mulling over the veracity of the facts outlined in a recent study that showed// a link between heavy cell phone use and an increased risk of cancer.

The FDA will be chewing upon an academic exercise conducted by researchers at the Swedish National Institute for Working Life who conducted a comparative study between statistics from 2,200 cancer patients and a same number of healthy patients.

The study revealed that those who used cell phone rather regularly had a risk which was as high as 240% of a malignant tumor on the side of the head closer to the cell phone use. The study was published in the March issue of International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health.

The Swedish researchers went on to explain that heavy users of cell phone are prone to cancer , with heavy use being a total of 2000 hrs or more, equated to about an hour a day for about 10 years.

Two other studies doing the rounds, paradoxical to the research in question, are the Dutch Health Council review of worldwide research and a four-year British survey, that portrays absolutely no connection between cell phone use and cancer(even the most common type of tumor), not withstanding the duration of use.

The FDA has summed up that there is no adequate proof to substantiate the adverse effects of cell phone use with the risk of cancer , and in its opinion, even if there is any risk, it is minimal.
