Induced abortion results in years of trauma.

A study on mental agony experienced by women after abortion which was headed by Anne Nordal Broen revealed shocking results. //

It showed that the sufferings of the women who had induced abortions were many times higher and extended to longer time periods than those who had miscarriage.

The study included women from the Buskerud Hospital in Drammen, who had miscarriage (40) and induced abortions (80).They were asked to fill in questionnaires and also questioned in person.

They were given a set of questionnaires to be filled in with a time interval of ten days, six months, two years and five years after induced abortion and miscarriage respectively.

The questionnaire mainly had questions about the event, their feelings, the strain, trauma they experienced. The level of nervousness, uneasiness and their pattern and way of life after the event was also dealt.

The results state that women who had miscarriages were experiencing severe trauma for the first six months when compared to women who underwent induced abortion.

But women who had abortions experienced the same traumatic conditions for a longer time (5 years).

Hence the study concluded that women who had induced abortion underwent increased stress trauma, feelings of remorse and humiliation than women from the normal society.
