Indian company charged with fraud in supply of Aids test kit

Innumerable faulty test kits well past the expiry date , used to screen blood of donors for HIV//, and Hepatitis B and C infections was found during raids conducted at Calcutta from blood banks across the state supplied to them by a company Monozyme India which had several contracts with the state government of West Bengal .
The government is forcibly calling back kits that have been already dispatched by the company Monozyme India run by brothers Govind and Ghansyam Sharma to several states across India and has ordered an investigation to look into the mayhem that has been caused by the sale of postdated obsolete blood test kits used to test donor blood before blood transfusion to needy reciepients .

The proprietors of the company are currently under police custody.

Britain's Royal Society of Medicine had recently reported in an article that India is precariously perched on incorrect data regarding HIV infection which is actually severely underestimated by Indians and they have projected that an estimate of over 5.7 million HIV-infected people are still in the fray who get the infection probably from discarded needles and such other lapses in hygiene by hospital health workers.

The news of this fraudulent practice can in the open following information leaked from the company by an anonymous informer. More than one lakh obsolete blood-test kits in blood banks across the state have been traced so far following the raids that were initiated by the police department. A couple of other companies dealing with medical supplies have also come under scrutiny following this scam.
