India Need To Pay More Attention to Manpower in Healthcare

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said that an asymmetrical ratio exists between the manpower in the health sector for the present population. //He said an adequate manpower is necessary to ensure proper healthcare to the people.

Statistics show that about 38,206 physicians and 20,034 nurses are working in the country of 140 millions people. The number of nurses is also asymmetrical in compare with the doctors. He said this while addressing a discussion as the chief guest at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on the occasion of the World Health Day.

He also acknowledged that the budgetary allocations for the development of specialized medical sector are not enough and most of it is being spent on primary healthcare. The minister said the present government has taken special steps for bringing qualitative change in the treatment of different diseases besides strengthening the programmes of primary healthcare.

He urged the common man to extend their cooperation in the development of the healthcare to make a healthy nation. The minister expressed hope that the country would able to build it as a healthy nation by the combined efforts of all.
