India: AIDS Patients Will Be Accorded Free Treatment

Health Minister, Anbumani Ramadoss made a reassuring announcement that will bring hope to those people affected with AIDS/HIV//. With the help of 48 additional centers to be instituted, the government will realize its target of providing free anti-AIDS drugs to one lakh people in the next two months. This will indeed provide a renewed thrust to India’s efforts in combating the rise of AIDS/HIV.

In the words of Anbumani Ramadoss “In another two months, an additional 48 centers will be opened and treatment extended to cover almost 100,000 patients.”

Most of the HIV infected patients belong to the low income group or poor families who are unable to afford the treatment and in such cases effective treatment could go a long way in rehabilitating the affected families.
