Washington: A finding by the advocacy group, Families USA, suggests that majority of the uninsured children, estimated at 9 million, have at least one parent employed full-time//. And in 25% of the cases, both parents were found to be earning members.

The group's executive director, Ron Pollack said "I think they believe these are low-income people who don't work, who are very different from themselves. These are people who work, who are doing the right thing."

It is evident from a recent report enabled by the group, that nearly two-thirds of the families would be entitled for government-funded coverage for their children, which needs to be requisitioned by the parents in the form of an application. Many parents are simply ignorant of the government sponsored insurance schemes, while some choose to ignore it because they find the enrollment process time-consuming.

Mark McClellan, in charge of the federally subsidized health insurance programs at the Medicare and Medicaid outfits, has reiterated that the US administration can do a lot more to step up the services and increase the reach of these insurance programmes.
