Latest researchers shows that men are more likely to have success using hypnosis as a means to quit smoking than women . // The report, which is based on 18 studies of hypnosis-based smoking cessation programs, shows 30 percent of men who used such treatments were able to curb cigarettes but the success rate for women was only 23 percent.

Researchers however feel that these varying numbers might have more to do with gender differences than hypnotic methods. However their studies did not answer why hypnosis worked better for men than women. Thus they conclude saying that there is nothing about hypnotic treatments that women should shy away from. If a smoker -- a man or woman -- is strongly motivated to try a hypnotic approach, he or she will probably be as successful with that approach as any other.

Some experts believe, because of the weight gain associated with stopping smoking, women may be less motivated to quit the habit.

However the common consensus was that one hypnotic treatment is not enough to quit smoking.
