Hunger Hormones And Postoperative Obesity Surgery

A new research has suggested that there is a hormonal change that lowers the drive for hunger in patients who have undergone postoperative gastric bypass surgery. //

This is a study done on nine obese patients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery and based on the report, which was issued in the Journal of Endocrinology and metabolism.

The hormones levels were significantly altered after six weeks of the surgery. These hormones play a major role in appetite control and fullness after a meal.

In order to minimize the hormonal changes of the postoperative gastric bypass surgery patients and to trigger weight loss, the researchers are in hopes to formulate appetite suppressant drug.

The obesity researchers point out that other than hormones, there are environmental factors as well as mental factors like stress which signals out hunger.
