American singer/actress Hilary Duff used to be obsessed with the idea of shredding weight even at the age of 15 .

The 19-year-old revealed that media reports about her being fat made her follow a strict diet and exercise routine.

"It made me obsessed. I would beat myself up if I had some fat," US Weekly quoted Duff, as saying.

The actress cut down on her harsh weight control regime only when her sis Haylie intervened after she crashed from 130 pounds in 2003 to around 100 pounds in 2005.

"She (Haylie), said, 'Why are you being so strict with yourself?' It was like an awakening," Duff said.

The 'Lizzie McGuire' actress then realised that she does not want to be 'skinny'.

"I don't want to be so skinny that people are like, Oh my god, she's lost a lot of weight," she said.

Meanwhile, the actress also revealed earlier that she stayed away from gossipy stuff about her, as at one point of time she was 'obsessed' with what websites wrote about her.
