Scientists had been able to find a biomarker that will help in medical practitioners to diagnose lupus disease in their early state only for effective treatment.//

Lupus is a condition that happens when the body’s tissues are affected by the body’s own immune system. Patients affected with lupus may produce abnormal antibodies in their blood that may attack the body’s own tissues than outside infection agents like bacteria and virus. This may lead to disease of the lungs, kidney, nervous system, joints, or even heart. When the condition affects only the internal organs, it is called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The wide range of symptoms makes it difficult for physicians to diagnose and treat SLE.

The new study had found out that activation of the type I interferon pathway is more common among SLE patients who are most affected. The activation of the protein pathway is indicated by high levels of expression of interferon-inducible genes in the blood cells. When compared with the other disease patients, the study results showed that SLE patients scored more for activation of the type I interferon pathway than patients of other diseases.
