High Fiber Breakfast Ideal For Heart

Researchers have found that consumption of whole grain breakfast brings down the rate of heart attacks to a great extent. This finding was presented at the American Heart// Association's conference in Florida yesterday.

According to this study people who have whole grain cereal for breakfast on a daily basis have a 28% lesser risk of developing heart diseases. The risk becomes 14% lesser in people who consume similar type of breakfast once a week.

The carbohydrates present in such a diet takes a longer time to be digested and absorbed. As a result energy is released very slowly which helps in augmenting concentration. An earlier study on this subject revealed that blood pressure and cholesterol can also be lowered by having a high fiber diet in the mornings.

According to Luc Djoussé, the assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School who headed this study, a whole grain, high-fiber breakfast has beneficial effects on adults as well as kids. It aids in reducing blood pressure, cholesterol and prevents heart attacks.

National Cancer Institute and the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute in the US had sponsored this study and not the cereal manufacturers. Hence there is no need for people to feel suspicious about this finding.
