Hepatitis A Threat to Coffee Drinkers

Visitors and customers who came to the Brampton, Ont., Tim Horton's location are being asked to monitor themselves for signs of hepatitis A.//

According to health officials in Peel Region, an employee at the Tim Horton's location at 2 Intermodal Dr. has tested positive for hepatitis A.

Peel's associate medical officer of the health, Dr. Eileen De Villa, has assured that the risk of transmission is low. However De Villa says customers who visited the location between July 8 and 21 should watch for symptoms until the end of September as a precaution.

The symptoms of hepatitis A can include abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite upset stomach, fever, dark-coloured urine and yellowing of the skin and eyes. Over 19,000 people had to get hepatitis A vaccines four years ago after being exposed to tainted produce at a Toronto Loblaws Supermarket.
