Its appalling to not that slothfulness is on the rise among teenagers. A recent study done by Cancer Research U.K was an eye opener//. The study revealed that umpteen teenagers in London are simply not motivated to put in efforts for constructive physical activity. They are used to spending time watching television or tinkering with computer games. This trend seems to have increased dramatically in the past five years.

They study reviewed the daily schedules of about 6000 kids in the age group of 11-12 years from over 36 schools in London. The researchers found out that very few of them are actively involved in a regular sport or active recreation. Boys and girls laze around idling their time about 2.5 hours more than they used to five years ago. They have very sedentary lifestyles that pose a grave danger of developing obesity and related chronic illnesses. One –fifths of the children were frankly obese.

British Journal of Sports Medicine published the results of this study. The data collected proves that the physical activity among boys decreased by 23% in the last 5 years. Girls seem to be more lethargic as the figures show that there is a dip of 46% in physical activities, since the beginning of this new century.
