The National Public Health Service for Wales published, figures for rates of serious bloodstream infections caused by bugs, including MRSA. This step is taken to assure// the public that all measures are carefully taken by the health officials to protect the public. Dr Eleri Davies, acting director of the Welsh Healthcare Associated Infection Programme (WHAIP), said that acquiring an MRSA infection depends on the patient's own health, reason for hospital admission and the type of treatment they are receiving. Welsh health minister Dr Brian Gibbons asked the NHS to take all the necessary steps to reduce all possible hospital infections.
