A task force constituted by Haryana Agricultural University was recently established in Haryana to identify bird flu infection if any in the state. // No evidence of bird flu infection has been reported by the taskforce that visited various districts of the state.
'The members of the task force found the birds healthy with a routine and normal mortality of two to five birds at a few poultry farms. The consumption of chicken and eggs, with usual precautions, is safe for human health in Haryana,' a HAU release said today.
Seven peafowls and two doves had recently died in the Karnal district of Haryana, near Indri. The health officials have however denied bird flu infection as a cause of the death. Post-mortem examination conducted on dead birds has now revealed that it is due to pesticide poisoning.
The samples had been sent to Jalandhar RRDL for confirmation of the cause. The officials have not been able to document any evidence of bird flu infection. With the Government officials keeping a close watch over the bird flu situation in India, bird flu is unlikely to occur in a state, which is fully prepared to manage the bird flu crisis.
