Hantavirus Scare Grips U.S

Mouse population has been on the rise past two winters, owing to the dampness and dankness, but these have been field days for the scurrying mouse. Infact mouse proliferation has been on the rise, //and citizens fear the deadly Hantavirus, fallout of poor hygiene in mice habitats.

Some of the initial symptoms of Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome could be fever, muscle aches, nausea, cough and abdominal pain, which surface one to five weeks after being exposed to an infected place.

The hanta virus attack has been found in Colorado, Montana, Oregon and Washington and nearly five people have succumbed to the viral attack in Arizona, according to the Department of Health Services.

Craig Levy of the Vector-borne Disease Program said” It’s the highest number of cases that we've ever had in the state before the end of May. If the trend continues, the state will see a record number of cases this year.”

Hantavirus, extremely deadly and known to kill one third of the people attacked by it, spreads even through airborne particles from places infested with mice. The virus needs to be killed during the clean-up time of the mice infested areas. Bleach water or disinfectant is best to kill the virus for maintaining hygiene in mice habitats
