HIV kids helped by zinc -study

Supplementation of Zinc with Anti-retroviral drugs for children’s with AIDS was found to reduce deaths due to diarrhea in HIV infected children’s //and also found to enhance the immune system which helps to fight against the virus. The study was conducted by Physician Moss and his colleagues from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland and the study results published in The Lancet.

U.N. agency reports that more than 40.3 million people including 2.3 million children’s are infected with HIV. Zinc is an essential mineral required for metabolism and function of the cell, though the virus can also utilize the zinc for its replication, zinc is more useful to the children’s in combating HIV infection as it boosts the human immune system and also provides mineral supplements to the infected children’s thereby reducing the diarrhea related deaths in infected children’s
