Gujarat Threatened By Anthrax

Anthrax is a disease that affects the cattle. It has created commotion and confusion among the people of Gujarat. The fear of anthrax has gripped Junagadh district following the death of a cow.// This cow was found to be infected with the deadly anthrax bacteria in Dedakiyali village in Menderda taluka.

Hence vaccination has already being given to 500 cattle in and around the area to prevent further death. Junagadh collector Bipin Shrimali ordered the State animal husbandry authorities to distribute vaccination in Dedakiyali as he said that the village has been threatened by anthrax.

Villagers in Menderda taluka were asked to inform the authorities concerned in case of a dead cow and also told them to take preventive measures.

The affected cow died on February 21 which led to the widespread issuing of the vaccines for about 540 cows of Dedakiyali village by the animal husbandry department officials.

The deputy director of animal husbandry department in Junagadh, CV Vaghasia said that the villagers were asked to follow certain precautionary measures to avoid further deaths and transmission of the disease to the humans.
