Govt Urged To Make Alternative Arrangements Due To Medical Strike

Delhi High Court Wednesday issued notices to the central and the Delhi governments on a public suit seeking alternative arrangements for patients visiting// various public hospitals in the capital that are hit by anti-quota protests.

A division bench comprising judges Vijender Jain and S.N. Aggarwal directed the respondents to file their replies to the petition by June 1, the next date of hearing.

Doctors of the government hospitals here are on a strike to protest the central Government's proposal to provide reservations to other backward classes (OBCs) in institutions of higher learning, an NGO said in its petition.

As a result of the strike, patients coming to the capital from faraway places were facing difficulties in getting treatment, the petition said.

The petition blamed the central and Delhi government for the harassment caused to the patients.
