Government must uplift the downtrodden children

A report assessing the impact on children living in poor conditions, misery and depression has painted a grim but true account of their sad lives, filled with penury, hunger and illnesses.//

Children who are living in crowded housing localities are ten times prone to contracting meningitis, a study conducted by Charity Shelter has found. The findings reveal that more than a million children in England live in extremely pathetic conditions - poor housing and even temporary accommodations. Such children stand a 25% risk of suffering disability and ill health during childhood and adulthood.

There was a direct association between respiratory problems, and tuberculosis in children living in crowded places. The report stated: "Homeless children are more likely to have behavioral problems such as aggression, hyperactivity and impulsivity, factors that compromise academic achievement and relationships with peers and teachers."
