Government Seeks To Wipe Out Prostitution

The health of UK's sex workers will be adversely affected by the government's plans to curtail street prostitution. The Government seeks to improve the quality of life of the people who are affected by street prostitution, reduce the// chances of commercial sex exploitation, and also challenge the opinion that street prostitution is unavoidable. The proposal will result in a higher degree of policing in red light areas, which may also lead to public disorder.

This is being faulted on the grounds that the specialist healthcare services available at red light areas will also be affected as a result of this move. The strategists also intend to phase out red light areas, which will disrupt the work of healthcare professionals and sex workers will lose the protection they get from violent customers. Sex workers contend that there is nothing wrong in paid sex, but the problems lie with lack of choices, drug dependency, and coercion.
