London – Sexual Health occupies an important position on the National Health Service’s Mandate, as per the Government’s announcement last month. The obvious reason, clinics in Britain are ill-equipped to service customers for sexually transmitted diseases. //

During a recent survey conducted to ascertain the exact position of facilities available, almost one in three doctors expressed that services at their clinics had dwindled in comparison with the previous year, notwithstanding the additional budget allotted by the Government.

This survey conducted by Four Health Charities, has expressed that majority of the patients have not been accommodated for treatment due to paucity of treatment measures, which has contributed to propagation of the disease.

Nearly 60,000 cases in Britain are diagnosed with HIV, since the World War II, and Chlamydia cases have simply gone up three times in the past decade. To quote the survey’s findings "There is a noticeable disconnect between governmental strategic plans and local practical action. It is clear that money intended for the improvement of sexual health services is, in many cases, not reaching the intended target and if continued this will have long term consequences for the sexual health of the country."

The government has allotted an additional 300 million pounds to the Primary Care Trusts to smoothen out the impediments to sexual health.

A Health spokeswoman has expressed promise saying “The majority of the 300 million pounds we have allocated to sexual health is due to kick in from April and we expect to make a huge difference in the drive towards meeting the clear targets we have set.”
