Pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline which produces Panadol products like Panadol Extra has sought to dispel doubts with regard to the safety of its products. People in the Middle East Region // are reported to have received messages questioning the safety with regard to particular batch of its products, namely batch number 050292.

The company has confirmed the safety of the products after retesting the batch at its own and other independent laboratories. Information with regard to this has also been passed on to the concerned governments, according to company sources. The company had initiated the investigations as the allegations made against the medicines were of a serious nature.

The company has not however questioned the motives of the people who are forwarding the messages, stating that they may have done so with the best of intentions, even though based on false information. The company insists that it has been enjoying an unsullied reputation for over half a century.
