Four People with Dengue Symptoms Admitted to Srinagar Hospital

Four people with dengue symptoms have been admitted to a hospital in this summer capital Srinagar.Doctors at the Soura Institute of Medical Sciences Thursday confirmed// that they were in the emergency ward of the institute.

"The samples of two of the four patients have tested negative, ruling out fear of the dreaded fever," a senior doctor said.

"The reports of the other two patients, one of whom is admitted in the emergency observation ward and the other in ward number 5 of the institute, are still awaited. These should be available by Friday," he said.

The doctor said that all the four patients are local residents who had recently travelled out of the state.

Experts say there is no chance of dengue fever here as the temperatures have fallen much below the optimum level needed to sustain the virus carrying mosquitoes.

"You need temperatures around 30 to 33 degrees Celsius for the mosquito species responsible for the spread of the dengue fever to survive. The maximum daily temperature in the valley these days is around 27 degrees," said another doctor.
