Lord Warner, the minister for National Health Service reform said that local hospitals should adapt to new reforms in order to be safe and stable.// Andrew Foster, the outgoing workforce director for the Department of Health, said that various ingrained practices have to undergo a change. This would enable new independent sector to offer patients greater choice and allowing more hospitals to move to free-standing foundation trust status. Mr Foster told the British Journal of Health Care Management that a new ￡1bn NHS-wide pay deal would change the working scenario completely.

According to this people are paid for their responsibilities and not for their job title. Lord Warner said that there is an urgent need to reshape some of the services provided y the hospital and also reshape few of the hospitals themselves. This is mainly to balance the services provided outside hospital to hose provided inside the hospital. The hospitals should be in a position to tackle and cater to all the needs of the local people otherwise the hospitals are going to be unpopular, unsustainable and probably unsafe. These measures have to be taken by the hospital trusts, boards, clinicians and managers. One should always keep in mind that a good health care system is about services and not about the institution.
