Folk medicine is given more to UTI patients

Research suggests that when it comes to treating their children with urinary tract infection,// it seems to be a common practice for the parents to rely on the folk medicines like cranberry juice more than taking the children to the doctors. Most of the time the usage of such types of folk medicine is not reported to the doctors at all.

Researchers for the study feel that this brings out in the open the need to address efficiency and safety factors regarding treating children with folk medicines immediately and with all urgency.

Researchers from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, who did the study, feel that parents often ignore the side effects of the traditional medicines when they give it to their children, most of the time without any medical guidance. The research results have shown that 74% of the parents in the survey had admitted to having heard of giving cranberry juice in case of urinary tract infections. 29% of the parents in thee survey had given the juice to their children when they suffered from the urinary tract infection.

Urinary tract infection happens when the bacteria gets to infect the urinary bladder and cause swelling and pain in the lower abdomen. This may cause irritation in the lining of the bladder, urethra, ureters, and kidneys as well. The condition is generally treated with antibiotics prescribed by the clinicians.
