A Medical Team is all set to board a 500-capacity British cruise vessel, Funchal that has been around for over 20 years. // This ship is presently off the West Australian coast, and will host the medical team, who are to examine reports that passengers on board have been infected by a contagious flu.
The department's director of Communicable Disease Control, Dr. Paul Van Buynder said, "The Department of Health is sending a team of specialists to Esperance to board the cruise ship Funchal following claims that a number of recent passengers have developed a respiratory illness."
The WA Health Department team would board the ship at Esperance, 731km south-east of Perth, and the team will stay put on the ship till it anchors at Perth, so that a complete investigation would be possible.The department has been monitoring the ship for over a month, following reports that certain passengers who alighted at Hobart and Adelaide had influenza A
