Feud Between Two Medical Publications

Researchers were asked to boycott the British Medical journal Lancet by a British Medical publication. This is due to the alleged ‘warmongering’ attitude// of Lancet’s parent company Reed Elsevier.

While talking about this issue, editor of the BMJ (formerly British Medical Journal) Fiona Godlee criticized that the business which is expected to promote health is actually making money out of destroying health.

Lancet is owned by the publishing group Reed Elsevier which also has an arms division. This division is said to hold at least 10 arms fairs in a year. According to Financial Times, Patrick Kerr the spokesman for Elsevier and Richard Horton, the editor of Lancet had mentioned about their arms promotions programs in 2005.

Kerr countered the BMJ’s accusation with a statement saying that there is no link between their arms exhibition and scientific fraternities.
