Men who consume one portion of salmon per week are protected from developing prostate cancer//, as the risk is reduced by 43 percent, a study from Sweden has revealed.

The study that is available online in the Journal of Cancer has indicated the benefits of consuming omega-3 fatty acids in protecting against cardiovascular disease (CVD), health of joints, and cancer. Additionally, Fish is known to positively impact mood and behavior.

Nearly half a million fresh cases of prostate cancer are detected globally each year, becoming the cause of more than 200,000 deaths.

The researchers opine, “There is an interaction between dietary factors and our genes, but it’s always hard to say what role the genes play.Omega-3 fatty acids can still be good for men who don’t carry the gene variant in completely different ways.”
